Semana 53: Grande Prairie Vs. God's Army

Image
So back to the grind... this week was kinda wild. Tbh I only really wanna talk about 2 days this week. Saturday and Sunday. Saturday I woke up and was stoked for the day. We had about 6-7 lessons planned (absolutely unheard of for Canada, much less grande prairie)  annnnnd all of them canceled. So then we spent the whole rest of the day walking around getting Bible bashed downtown. Literally everyone we talked to seemed to be having a bad day/wanted to show these two missionaries that they were so so very wrong lol.  Sunday rolled around. We had 9 of our friends come and the Spanish family that we'd been teaching come as well. It was so miraculous. We also started the spanish 2nd hour! It was so lit. I kept thinking, how can these two days be so close together? Saturday was so awful, and Sunday was so good! Made me think of a classic, a scripture that's gotten me through some of the hardest times of my life: D&C 122:7 And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into...

UN AÑO YA

This is the weirdest email I've ever sent. So um anyways. This is the 52nd email haha. Real talk with Elder  Curtis  now, I've reflected a lot this week. One year as a missionary? How could it be? Time has flown. I can remember like it was yesterday, getting set apart. Now here I am, 52 weeks in.  To be completely honest this has been the hardest thing I've ever done. But I've been blessed a whole lot! I've learned the meaning of two things: Christlike courage, and Christlike love (spoiler alert: they go hand in hand). Courage means your willingness to go outside of your comfort zone. To do something that in a "normal" situation you would not do. Now this has been the #1 lesson on my mission this far. Why would anyone want to do something like that?  Well because of Christlike love. When you love someone and/or something as Christ does, you'll do exceptional things for them. You'll talk to them on the street. You'll knock on their car window. Y...

Semana 51: All To The Glory Of GOD

I'm starting with the least important thing: the Oilers are going to the Stanley cup waahoooo! Hockey is the best lol BTW hop on this thing: https://photos.app.goo. gl/5KEvxqXq2WYzZR9a9 Honestly just such a good week. Got blessed by the Lord this sunday. Had 8 investigators come to church which was most I've ever had up here in Grand Praire. Then what was so dope was a whole bunch of inactive members we've been working with came too! We had the highest number of people ever in the ward to come to sacrament, a big ol 134. I about cried it was so amazing to see. I've been praying really really hard to have people come and I felt the hand of the Lord in the work in a big way.  BTW me and my comp posted an invite to church video on all the grande prairie Facebook pages and ppl started an internet troll war in the comments section haha. But 2,700 people viewed it soooo idk. We've also started to get recognized around town which is a weird feeling haha, "hey are you ...

Semana 50: Ya Sabes La Rutina

This week was good! Found my new best friend Michael. We were walking down the street and a guy biked past us. I said oh wait hey you come back here and he came back. Crazy thing was, we made eye contact and I swear i had met this man before. Like there was some spiritual connection of some kind. We introduced ourselves and exchanged numbers. Later that week the number responds. It's his mom lol. She says who are you we say messangers of God and she's like ya perfect my son needs that here's his address he lives in a basement. So we go over and he's on his bike again and we give him a Book of Mormon and he's about it. About an hour ago (wrote this sunday night lol) we just taught him the rest of the restoration. He loved it! #talkwitheveryone Then later we met Gilbert at the bus stop. He's from Kenya. My brotha in Christ. We taught him about the Book of Mormon and he said another testament ok. Well turns out he's living with our friend Armstrong who's on...

Semana 41: Charlas Y Charlas

Image
Buenos dias, espero que se encuentren bien I think I just need to accept ill never have a normal week up here, this one was absolutely filled to the seams with things to do and miracles to see. Had an exchange with my District Leader Elder Parish. He's a dawg fr fr. The district is kinda struggling rn so I had the mighty opportunity to uplift and strengthen him a lil bit. We set a goal of talking to 30 ppl and we got to like 45 which was sweet. Once again I love seeing what missionaries do when they're talking to someone on the street and I literally run away from them to talk to someone else haha. Knocking on car windows is my favorite tambien. We must've gotten like 20 numbers and a couple seemed pretty down so idk we'll see! Then we had our exchange with the assistants which was fine tbh. I was with our dear assistant jaja He's a good Elder I figure it just comes with the territory of being AP but anyway another day of talking to the world. Then Saturday rolled a...

Semana 48: The Light Of Christ (In All Of Its Forms)

Image
Dang well I think I say it every week but this ones gotta take the cake. Craziest week of my mission so far. Also hop on google photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ 5KEvxqXq2WYzZR9a9 So to start the zones been struggling putting people on date. At the start of this week we had 2 on date in the whole zone and they were both with us haha which was unbelievably frustrating. So I fasted for the zone on sunday and whaddaya know, by the end of the week we had 5. Crazy considering one of them was in a  town called High Level (population 2,000 and 1,000 of them are drunk). So big ol miracle there. Then 2 things happened. #1 big ol wildfire started close to us. Everyone was on edge and there was a day where our visibility and air quality were worse than China. You could see the glow of the fires from town. #2 We received the light show of our lives. I've heard the northern lights are cool but holy smoke, friday night was wild. I was in bed and I looked out the window and there was a literal l...

Semana 47: Brothas In Christ

Holy smoke, this was one of the crazier weeks of my mission.  So to start off we put our friend Charolette on date! hooray! She's been cooking for a while now but June 1st here we come! Prayers up that she can make it! Then I got to do exchanges with my DL Elder Welch, and my elda is a dawg. We spent the day in probably the most beautiful place in our mission: peace river, it's just absolutely gorgeous. He's been going through a bit of a rough patch with the missionary work there, and his companion as well as his district haha so I tried to uplift him and get him going. I really tried to be like Ricarrdi haha (elder welch was kinda weirded out in the beginning) , we were quite literally running around town talking to everyone in sight. We must have talked to 40 or 50 people that day! Found a super sick man named Dean from Jamaica, they're gonna go talk to him later. But yea, we finished the exchange and I basically told him if he shows more faith by talking to everyone ...
