Semana 41: Charlas Y Charlas

Buenos dias, espero que se encuentren bien

I think I just need to accept ill never have a normal week up here, this one was absolutely filled to the seams with things to do and miracles to see.

Had an exchange with my District Leader Elder Parish. He's a dawg fr fr. The district is kinda struggling rn so I had the mighty opportunity to uplift and strengthen him a lil bit. We set a goal of talking to 30 ppl and we got to like 45 which was sweet. Once again I love seeing what missionaries do when they're talking to someone on the street and I literally run away from them to talk to someone else haha. Knocking on car windows is my favorite tambien. We must've gotten like 20 numbers and a couple seemed pretty down so idk we'll see!

Then we had our exchange with the assistants which was fine tbh. I was with our dear assistant jaja He's a good Elder I figure it just comes with the territory of being AP but anyway another day of talking to the world.

Then Saturday rolled around and we had our training for zone confrence which I'll tell yall the truth I was sweating bullets for. But it actually went very well. We trained on extending Invitations, basically we treated the whole thing like a roleplay, Elder Osborn acted like a greenie and he extended a really bad Invitation to our mission president's wife and then we had a quick "companionship study" and went over how to do it right. I felt very good about how things went.

Then on sunday I gave a talk again literally my second one in the last three weeks. I was happy to do it though, I see it like an opportunity to teach our friends who are progressing (ie. Coming to church) so I talked about covenants and my purpose as a missionary. If I'm being honest I actually just taught part of the restoration and the gospel of Jesus Christ with a couple of personal experiences. Everyone liked it! (At least that's what they said to me haha)

Side note: first spanish family came to church up here in grande prairie!!! man oh man I've been waiting for this moment for a long time! Wilbur and Diana (husband and wife) and their kid emmanuel showed up! I was on the stand and they walked in. I about leapt for joy. I introduced them to our only member who speaks Spanish and they hit it off nice. Milagro! Tambien they from Columbia. In terms of numbers, I had one of my best weeks on the mission. We hit all of our goals! It was crazy

This week I've been pondering boldness.

Alma 38:12 "Use boldness, but not overbearance; and also see that ye bridle all your passions, that ye may be filled with love; see that ye refrain from idleness."

This scripture is the best! It captures the ideal missionary mindset. Being bold, not overbearing (tbh overbearance= boldness without love) bridling our passions, being filled with love, and saying no no to idleness. I feel this scripture for sure. Had a wack experience talking to a born again lady yesterday. We were talking about the book of Mormon and she wasn't a fan (shocker) and she literally asked me, "well how do you know this book is true?" Right after she said that I swear i felt the Spirit envelop me. I looked that little lady square in the eyes and told her, "Ma'am, God Himself told me it is His word." There was dead silence for about 20 seconds. You could hear the wind blowing through the trees. The Spirit was working on her. Then she kept jibber jabbering and ended up not being interested. But it was an experience I will never forget.

God is real and He loves you all! Have an awesome week! Don't be a stranger, shoot this Canadian an email.
