Semana 58: God Is In Relentless Pursuit Of You

Image
Howdy folks. Crazy week. I'll give y'all the readers digest version: -learned kinrawandan (an African language)- "bite bite amakuru!" -our friends jackson and esperance came to church .  God is so good. They don't speak any English haha so we had some French speaking members help -went to many many meetings.  -found many new, fascinating, interesting people to teach -went on an exchange back to Lago Lindo! It was actually so insane. Felt really weird to be in the area where I started my mission... we found 2 dope mexicans we started teaching there . -visited elder ospina! Gave me a dope hair cut. I told him he will be cutting my hair before my wedding, he laughed. I hope he knew I was serious . I am loving the mission. It's a cliche at this point, but truly it has been the hardest, best time of my life. Love you all! Que siguen luchando! Elder  Curtis

Assistant To The President Position Letter

Dear Elder Curtis, You have been assigned to serve as an Assistant to the President in the Canada Edmonton Mission. This assignment places you in a significant position of trust! Other missionaries will look to you for leadership and an example of what the Lord expects a missionary to be and do. I will look to you to honour that trust at all times and in all places. In Missionary Standards 2.1.3, 2.1.4, and 7.1  you will find what is expected from young mission leaders. In Preach My Gospel, chapter 6 you will find attributes of a leader to which we all aspire.  Please study these passages carefully, review them often, and adhere to them fully and completely as you fulfill your assignment.  In your assignment as an Assistant to the President you are to: 1. Provide training, as requested by the mission president, in mission leadership councils, zone conferences, and at other times. 2. Conduct companion exchanges with zone leaders and other elders as directed by the mission ...

Semana 57: Questions

Hello all, welcome back to the weekly update from the great white North. This week didn't feel like we were very far North though, we had a heat wave here in Edmonton and our apartment doesn't have AC. So. . .  (literally pov last night) This week was probably the busiest of my mission. We had more meetings than I could count, 2 exchanges, and so many lessons. First exchange I went with good ol Elder McHoes on the west side of the city. We had a great time and talked about the importance of talking to literally everyone you see. He seemed quite fired up after the exchange so I considered it a success. Then we went on down to Red Deer. It's the most southern town in the mission so we went road trippin. Exchanged with elder strong, he's a good Elder. He speaks tagolag which is good cause there are a whole bunch of Philippinos for some reason in that town. We had a great time. Saw some cool miracles this week... met Jackson and Esperance while we were driving through a nei...

Semana 56: Mini Africa

Well this one was a week for the books. My new area is called Londonderry. It is like a pizza slice of the city of Edmonton, probably about 1/8 of the area. But man oh man are there a lot of people here. I am not exaggerating when i say that 80% are black. I've met people from Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Congo, Liberia, Eritrea, and Tanzania. And a couple other ones I've never heard of before. So that's been sweet.  My new companion is Elder Arnold, he's so funny. We get along so well together. We're so busy i can hardly believe it. These past few days have felt like a whirlwind. We've had so many lessons and we literally talk with everyone, it's so nice. I'll be talking to someone on the street, then he'll go talk to someone else who walks by, and we'll just keep going back and forth until there are no more people. I love it. Life is good! It was sad to leave Grande Prairie, but I know I'm where the Lord needs me. I'm extremely...

Semana 55: Regresare A Edmonton

Bonkers week in the books right here. It was actually a really good week. We worked really hard and saw some miracles. Here's some highlights! -talked to my boy Ahadi on the street (he's from the Congo) Well we gave him and his wife a church tour and turns out they have 5 kids. I about leaped for joy! They said they'd come to church but didn't, we're hoping next week tho. Prayers up for Ahadi and his family! -then we had a new member come out of the works to help us with like all of our lessons, his name is brother Todd. Legend. He's a bit odd, but his testimony is fuego. -had a sick lesson with our new friend Efosa. We explained the restoration and he understood completely. He said "I need to read this book!" That's right you do Efosa. -my boy Pedro from Mexico was found this week. He's a funny man looking for truth, so we're gonna help him find it So we got some crazy news this week. Our area is getting washed, so elder Osborn is going ho...

Semana 54: Canada Day

Hello all you fantastic people, how's it going? Hope everything is well with y'all! We had zone conference last week, so we drove down to Edmonton. That's why I couldn't send an email last Monday, we were driving hahahaha. This week was the fun week: we had Canada Day! Every July 1st across the great white North, the Canadians pull out their maple leaf hats, shirts, and memorabilia. And who would've thought, on Canada Day, no one wants to talk about Jesus. Like absolutely no one. Bummer. So we did service allllll day. it was kinda cool tho, we got to be in a parade. We volunteered to help out the latino association of Grande Prairie, and they let us carry the Canadian flag in the parade. So that was neat! Pics down below. Tbh these past two weeks have been the most frustrating of my mission so far. I've been working so hard, with absolutely no fruit to show for it. I dont like complaining so I won't go into detail. Ive been contemplating the great examples o...
