Semana 46: Chapter 9 And Talk To Everyone

Image
Hola buenas a todos Man I think i'm gonna say it every week but I miss spanish so much haha speaking english is so bland...but we got a solution to that don't Worry Anyway this week was lit! I was super bummed out last week cause our church attendance has been just awful  as of late, I mean in terms of friends and also just plain members attending... we've got 500 on the books and about 60 in sacrament meeting. That's a problem haha. So p day rolls around and I'm feeling bummy. Then I pray and after think "hey wait a second. If you want people to come to church you just gotta Invite them!" So I made my resolution there. Every person I saw this week I invited to church. And I mean everyone. Let me just tell you it was a crazy week. I found myself running across parking lots, flagging down cars, and talking to homeless people hahahaha. It was insane. It says in preach my gospel you gotta talk to everyone and that's what we did. Then Sunday rolls around a...

Good morning from the great white North, I hope you are all well. I'm doing just swell bc I'm finally done with my first Canadian winter jajaja gosh dang that was cold. This week highlights: -met a lady who is a Peruvian spaniard-italian (let me tell you that Accent is wack) -met some more members up here on bear creek, man I sure do miss speaking Spanish all the time -one of our most progressing friends dropped us in the Middle of sacrament meeting, it was so surprising I almost laughed out loud -found out I have a strong predisposición towards kraft Mac and cheese -my friend Carolina got baptized all the way down there in Lago Lindo! Yayaya -discovered that we have roughly 400 inactive members in this ward and that sacrament meeting attendance is 23% -found 5 new friends this week! (Honestly truly a miracle directly from heaven!) -invited about 25 ppl to sacrament, one showed up -started a ward basketball night with our friends Yea so I guess something I learned again is that...

Zone Leader Position Letter

Dear  Sister Curtis, Elder Curtis has recently been called to serve as a zone leader in the Canada Edmonton Mission. Below is a copy of the letter he has received. Dear Elder Curtis,   You have been assigned to serve as a zone leader in the Canada Edmonton Mission. This assignment places you in a significant position of trust. Other missionaries will look to you for leadership and an example of what the Lord expects a missionary to be and do. I count on you to honour that trust at all times and in all places. Your example sets the standard for the missionaries in your zone. As a zone leader you have the same responsibilities in serving the missionaries in your zone as district leaders have in their districts. In addition, you will teach missionaries in your zone through companion exchanges (primarily with district leaders), visits to district meetings, and presentations in zone conferences. You are a member of a district, and you report your proselyting work through your distr...

So there I was.... Wednesday morning, elder ospina and I in our house, a tad nervous cause we don't want President to call us to give us transfer news. We just wanted one more together haha. "We're doing good President thank you" "Yea ok I don't wanna waste your time so elder Ospina you are staying in Río Vista, and elder  Curtis ?" "Yea?" "You're going to Grande Prairie to be zone leader with elder Osborn." "<silence. I really didn't know what to say>" "Alrighty then see you soon." Hangs up So yea. I got moved out of spanish and drop kicked up 5 hours north to the true great white North, the terrific town of Grande Prairie, population 30,000. Go look it up on google maps haha. There is no spanish unit up here (at least not right now) and if I'm being completely honest the work is a good bit slower up here. But the beauti...

Semana 42: Miracles

Image
What's good gang?  holy week= my favorite week We saw some absolutely crazy miracles. Up until Sunday, we invited every single spanish speaking person that we talked to, to church. Saturday we called just about every single number in our phone. And what do ya know, on Sunday we had a crisp 18 of our friends at church. The Lord is working miracles here in Río Vista. Also in all of our messages that we shared we tried to keep them centered on Christ, specifically the event that occurred on that day during holy week. I loved Thursday. We were able to share with all of our friends the joy of the Atonement of Christ. How when He suffered for us, it gave us the power to overcome our own suffering with Him. Crazy to think of how many people don't know about the Atonement. We've got a lot of work to do. Anyways a crazy miracle was at church 2 ppl showed up who we've never seen before. Their names are Luiz and Carmen, and they're from Brazil! Thank goodness there's a guy...
