Week 102: The End

Image
Well this is it. My last email. Probably the weirdest sentence I've ever written haha These last couple of weeks have been really good. We've been working hard as usual, and were able to set a baptismal date with our friend Nico! July 12th! I'm excited to see that one over zoom. Cool miracle this week, we were stopping by our Columbian friends and we had a prompting to knock on the basement. We do and this guy answers, and he's a dominicano literally my favorite country other than Colombia, we go inside and teach him about the Book of Mormon and he loves it. We start playing the 3 Nefi 11 audio and he gets this scared look on his face. He tells us he's heard of the nephites in the Book of Enoch and he says they're fallen angels (me and my companion look at each other like wut) finally we explain a bit of the background of the name nephi and g calms down a bit. But miracles! Haha Said goodbye to a lot of cool members. Honestly super sad but I'll see a lot of ...

Week 100

Hey everyone! This is a fun milestone, my one hundredth preparation day and one hundredth week as a missionary! To be honest this week was pretty hard, we had just about every lesson cancel and for some reason we just could not seem to find anyone who spoke spanish. A lot of knocking doors and talking to Canadians haha. Sunday night I was in the apartment thinking about the week and I came to an interesting realization. I didn't have any regrets. I knew I'd given it my very best effort and had held nothing back. I knew God acknowledged and accepted my offering/effort. I thought of this quote from President Nelson:  "We all will experience illness, disappointment, temptation, and loss. These challenges can knock our self-confidence. However, disciples of Jesus Christ have access to a different kind of confidence. When we make and keep covenants with God, we can have confidence that is born of the Spirit." It's only taken me 100 weeks to learn this lesson haha. Pero...

Missionary Release Information

Dear parents -  I am pleased to inform you that Elder  William   Curtis  will conclude his mission and be returning home on 12 Jun 2025. We have attached his travel itinerary for that day to this email,  for your planning.   We have also attached some information regarding tuberculosis that we have been requested to send you. Please review it with your missionary. This is an exciting time for your family. We know that there will be some adjustments ahead: in order to prepare, you may wish to review some of the articles the church website makes available to assist missionaries. We have attached three for convenience, but there are many more:  Finding My New Normal After My Mission   by Breanne Su'a   ( https://www. churchofjesuschrist.org/study/ liahona/2021/02/digital-only- young-adults/finding-my-new- normal-after-my-mission?lang= eng ) Covenant Living: A Guide For Returned Missionaries   by Sadie...

Week 99: La Chamba La Vaina

Hola todos! It's finally summer up here in Canada.  I'm not exaggerating when I say Canadians/Latinos up here choose how they treat you based on the weather haha  so it's been getting nicer outside and we've been seeing a lot more success! 1st off the craziest miracle has been for the last 4 weeks we've gotten a separate member referral from a different person in the ward which is just absolutely crazy! The second I arrived in this area I felt like we just had to work more with the members and all the hard work is paying off, our referral this week was the cousin of a recent convert named Ivan el Chileno (viva chile) we taught him about the Book of Mormon and how it's another testament of Christ, he loved it and we had another lesson this week. Such a king- love that man. Man latinos are so funny we had a special sacrament meeting for mothers day and the first hour was an hour and a half long. they had a missionary farewell, 2 musical numbers, 4 youth testimonie...

Week 98: The Last Dance

Hola todos! So last week was the beginning of my last transfer. Honestly super surreal, pero hay que trabajar aun mas duro. Literally got 5 weeks left like what the heck where did the time go? I finished the training of my hijo peruano (Elder Mauad) and sent him off to Lago Lindo. Gonna miss him a lot tbh he made his papa proud, now I've got elder Lopez as my last companion. Super stoked for these next couple of weeks we've got some cool friends hopefully ready to make a covenant soon. I've been doing a whole lot of reflecting on what serving a mission has done for me. To tell ya the truth I can't put it into words jaja. Maybe I'll try to do it in my last email. I often think about who I was before coming to Canada and who I am now. The difference is big. I'm grateful for a little more time to lose myself in the Lord's work. SPIRITUAL THOUGHT  "I have learned that the most crucial question we each must answer is this: To whom or to what will I give my l...

Week 96: La Semana Santa

Howdy y'all, this week was so good!!!! We were able to give 2 baptismal dates this week, one to my friend jahir from Peru, i found him about 18 months ago and have tried to stay in contact with him ever since. He's coming back to Edmonton in 2 weeks and wants to be baptized then! Whaaaa hooooo!  Then at our easter service one of our recent converts invited a Chilean family to come to church and they did #cachai They really liked it and then were gonna have an FHE tonight with them!  Then at that same easter service one of our other member referrals came up to us and said, "ok I want to be baptized." Booom right there we gave her a date and she was so excited! #vivamexico Once again I think I said this in my last email but I feel like all of our hard work over the last 12 weeks is coming to fruition! We have been giving this area our maximum effort with no baptisms yet but I know the Lord has big things in store for Rio Vista! Everything seems to be falling into place....
