8 Months

This one will be a little different Don't know why but I woke up this morning,  looked at the calendar, and realized I have been on my mission for 8 months now. 8 months! I'm not quite sure why this was so shocking to realize. I've let it settle in my brain now and I think I know why.  I don't feel like the same person I was 8 months ago! I have learned and grown so much its insane. Here is three things that I have learned: -The Book of Mormon is powerful -Prayer can change YOU if you treat it like a conversation  -Love for GOD and OTHERS is the quickest way to self-fulfillment in life I love my mission. It has changed my life. Elder Curtis

Semana 35: "Ninguna Mano Impía Puede Detener El Progreso"

Buenas a todos, que mas, cuentame todo chicos Well this week was so lit. I'll start with what happened yesterday. We had a family home evening with 2 of our on date friends from columbia, Ronald and Santiago with our recent convert Diego. Not gonna lié, I was a little nervous because we were gonna have this FHE at the moreno household (they are from Chile). Now you all might be saying "Elder Curtis I don't see the problem here. The Morenos sound like perfectly nice people." And you'd be right, they are awesome and I love them. However..... there's this funny thing that Chilean people believe: Columbians are just the worst. Apparently these two countries are not the best of friends! I've heard some chilean members say some wack things about Columbia at dinners (btw my comps a columbian) which have led to some pretty uncomfortable moments. Needless to say,  I didn't know what was gonna go down here. Thanks to the gospel of Jesus Christ, which unifies eve...

Semana 34: El Bautismo De DIEGO

Buenas a todos, que mas, como anadan Wow this week was so good. We had Diego's baptism this Saturday which was so spiritually powerful it about knocked my socks off. Diego is such an awesome guy and he was so ready for his baptism. We had about the whole barrio pull up (let's go thank you members) to support Diego in his special day, and the talks were so awesome. I loved it, but more importantly Diego was so happy. Whooooo hooo what a great day! Had a mini milagro with our friends Santiago and Ronald, to make a long story short there was sum drama and it looked like they dropped us, but we called them up Sunday morning and they pulled up to church!!! We're shooting for this Saturday for Ronalds baptism and Santiago the week after, so if I could get some mighty prayers of exceedingly great faith for my friends, that would be so swell. Me and Elder ospina have been cooking up about +80 different ideas about missionary work here in the south. It's so fun to just bounce id...

Semana 33: Los Cielos

Awesome week! Really liking Rio Vista. The members are sweet and willing to help out with the work. My companion is the greatest, we are working hard. Our friend Diego will be baptized next week. Life is good. Diego: so sweet. Has a super strong testimony of the Book of Mormon. Listo para ser bautizado! Santiago y Ronald: Father-son duo who are so lit. They said that they are sure (seguro) that they will be baptized in 2 weeks! Luis Angel: a little crazy but I love him too. He will be getting baptized in three weeks. The work is good! I love life.  "Scripture of the week" Moroni 8:43-Wo be unto them that shall pervert the ways of the Lord after this manner, for they shall perish except they repent. Behold, I speak with boldness, having authority from God; and I fear not what man can do; for perfect love casteth out all fear. Love perfectly, and have no fear!  Sincerely, Elder Curtis Columbia......
