Semana 35: "Ninguna Mano Impía Puede Detener El Progreso"

Buenas a todos, que mas, cuentame todo chicos

Well this week was so lit. I'll start with what happened yesterday. We had a family home evening with 2 of our on date friends from columbia, Ronald and Santiago with our recent convert Diego. Not gonna lié, I was a little nervous because we were gonna have this FHE at the moreno household (they are from Chile). Now you all might be saying "Elder Curtis I don't see the problem here. The Morenos sound like perfectly nice people." And you'd be right, they are awesome and I love them. However..... there's this funny thing that Chilean people believe: Columbians are just the worst. Apparently these two countries are not the best of friends! I've heard some chilean members say some wack things about Columbia at dinners (btw my comps a columbian) which have led to some pretty uncomfortable moments. Needless to say,  I didn't know what was gonna go down here. Thanks to the gospel of Jesus Christ, which unifies everyone, the fhe was a hit! Everyone loved it and got along great.

There came a moment in the lesson where I just stopped and looked around. We had a family from Columbia, a family from Chile, a man from El Salvador who gave our friends a ride, and an 18 year old kid from Arizona, who were all speaking Spanish in Edmonton Canada. It's just so awesome to see how powerful this church is to bring people together. I love the gospel!

Anyway, this week elder ospina y yo were focused on member work! What we'd do is in between lessons we would pass by members, give them a 10 min lesson about the ward mission plan, and then leave. Doesn't take too much of their time or our time and we bring the spirit. Getting to know the members in the ward is a plus as well, they're so cool.

Spiritual Thought
Once again I'm gonna pull from ven, sígueme (I'm still very passionate about this program, absolutely inspired) and talk about 2 Nefi 9. I'm gonna just say it up front, this is one of my new favorite chapters in the BOM. The imagery and word choice are quite simply sublime, Jacob is an incredible teacher:

O, my beloved brethren, turn away from your sins; shake off the chains of him that would bind you fast; come unto that God who is the rock of your salvation.

46 Prepare your souls for that glorious day when justice shall be administered unto the righteous, even the day of judgment, that ye may not shrink with awful fear; that ye may not remember your awful guilt in perfectness, and be constrained to exclaim: Holy, holy are thy judgments, O Lord God Almighty—but I know my guilt; I transgressed thy law, and my transgressions are mine; and the devil hath obtained me, that I am a prey to his awful misery.

Who can read that and not get pumped up? We don't have too much time to prepare. The Lord is coming and judgement day is near.

Well that's all for this week. Love you all tons!
