Week 76: Christ Warms Hearts
2 Sundays ago, we got a notification on our phones. Someone had signed up on Facebook to learn about how to progress on their spiritual journey. So we gave them a call. His name was Adam, and he wanted to know more about religion. He had grown up atheist but felt that God was calling him to something else. We met up with him on Wednesday and brought the coolest member, Brother Purnell. We taught him the restoration and showed him the Book of Mormon. He read a verse and asked if it was a commandment to be baptized. We said yes and he said that he'd really want to be baptized! We set a goal with him for December 21st.
God prepared our friend Adam. Since then, he's quit coffee and booze cold turkey. Many people in the ward know him by name, and he loves the congregation!
Another one of our friends has a similar story. His name is Morgan, and he's a Native American young man who struggles with substance abuse. But he's got the biggest heart and the biggest desire to be baptized! He actually went up and bore his testimony yesterday. He told the congregation that he loved them, loved Jesus Christ, and that he wanted to be baptized! It was one of my favorite testimonies I've ever heard.
I'm loving my mission! Even though it's cold (really really cold) and of course there are hard times, I'm reminded every day that this is God's work, not mine. I just need to work as hard as I possibly can, and God will make up the difference.
Jacob 3:1-2
1 But behold, I, Jacob, would speak unto you that are pure in heart. Look unto God with firmness of mind, and pray unto him with exceeding faith, and he will console you in your afflictions, and he will plead your cause, and send down justice upon those who seek your destruction.
