Happy Birthday To The Prophet!
Hello y'all!
So a week ago today we were walking by an old friends house and we meet these two guys from Ghana. For those of you who are serving/living in places in the world that don't have many people from Africa, let me tell you something. People from Ghana are the best! I think of the people from Ghana I've met on my mission, I've been able to teach about 70-80% of them. And these two brothas (Samuel and Kingsley are their names) are no exception. So we start chatting about Jesus and about all the things he did (John 21 last verse is the best) and I ask one of my favorite questions: "How would it bless your life to have another book about Jesus Christ in your life?" And so Kingsley says yea that would bless my life a lot! In fact, he said that back in Ghana he had a blue book with gold letters that was another testament of Jesus christ! But he couldn't remember the name. So I reach into my back pocket and show it to him and he goes crazy haha it was so funny. But we said we'd come by later to explain where in the heck this book about Jesus Christ visiting America came from!
Now we go on with the rest of our week. Me and Elder Arnold have been working on our training for the zone conferences, which is on the Book of Mormon. In preach my gospel chapter 5 it says to teach the Book of Mormon from the Book of Mormon, for example joseph smith from 2 nephi 3. That's something that I've always been a little unsure about, just cause I've thought that these people won't understand it. But to practice for our training, we decided to try it out.
We pull up to Samuel and Kingsleys house and we explain that we want to read some verses together, so we read 11 and 12. And they literally understood perfectly. They said, "oh so a prophet is going to bring forth this book that will help us to understand God's word better." Man my jaw about fell off. We teach the restoration and I swear you could taste the spirit. We gave them both soft baptismal invites and they both accepted. It was so cool!
Use the book of Mormon! It's so powerful.
