Week 28: Cold, Cool Miracles, More Cold

Que fue mis hermanas y elderes

Well gee wizz. I officially feel like I'm in Canada. People have been telling me that this winter has been light. Up until this week, highs have been in the 30s-40s. But I woke up on tuesday morning to a high of -17.  And this thursday it's gonna be -26. At noon. Needless to say, it's cold. How would I describe it? You go out, take a breath, and your whole entire chest feels like it's lined with icicles. But hey, it's honestly not that bad. With the cold comes snow, and I have learned snow is awesome. It kind of breaks the monotony. Edmonton is a pretty grey, dirty city, and the snow makes everything look sick.

But that's enough about la clima. Me and Elder G been grindin, and we're getting close with two of our friends: Vicente and Jahir. Vicente is a literal Mexican Philosopher. He's a talker, that guy. But he's absolutely ripping through the Book of Mormon, we've given him 14 chapters to read over the last week and a half and he's reading them all. The issue is he's too abstract in his thinking. It's difficult for him to focus on what we have to teach him. Prayers up for my boi Vicente!

Jahir is coming along, albeit slowly. But he has a genuine desire to be baptized. He just wants to be able to keep all of the commitments after. It's pretty cool to see the change in him over these past couple months. But he's gotta get on the covenant path. More prayers for Jahir!

Los milagros
So every Saturday we have a basketball night. And I do not have appropriate footwear to properly dunk on all of our investigators (just kiddin lol). So on our lunch break we went shoe shopping. And we're in this store, and we hear spanish behind us. I look at elder G he looks at me and we start talking it up with them. Well her name is Marissa, his name is Jose, she's Mexican and he's Chilean. They've lived in Edmonton for 9 years and they're looking for a church. I'm telling you, you can't make this stuff up. She had her mom pass away recently too, so we got to teach a mini plan of salvation right there in that shoe store. We're meeting with them on Thursday. So cool. I know that's an answer to my prayers, their prayers, and all of yours too. I love the work!

Love u all so much! Super quick spiritual thought:
"And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things."

We may know All things. One of the most universal promises in the standard works. Sometimes we forget we have the power of a member of the Godhead with us if we're worthy. But it's true! If we have a desire to know, are worthy, and ask, we shall receive answers. Try it out this week!
