Week 25: Obscuridad Y Luz

Buenas a todos!


Man I'm gaining a newfound appreciation for the song, "Battle Hymn of the Repúblic." I guess 5 months ago I didn't realize how much of an actual War is happening here on this earth. The adversary is a real being! He is fighting a real War, with real wepons, and sadly there are real casualties. I say this because this week, I think every single one of our friends that we are teaching came to us and let us know that they've got something in their life that's making it hard to meet with us. Ranging from relationship issues, moving back to their home country, the threat of getting deported, recovering from surgery, the list could go on forever honestly. But thank goodness this isnt a one sided battle. We (missionaries and members alike) have the sword of truth and the spirit that we can use to smack Satan back where he came from. So we're gonna keep fighting. We're never going to give up, because the stakes (human souls) are too high.


Anyways this week was a rollercoaster. We had a lot of lessons, found a bunch of new friends, addressed a lot of concerns, and came this close to putting our friend Jahir on date. He doesn't know if the book of Mormon is true, or if joseph smith is a prophet. The spirit moved me to promise him something crazy, so if I could get everyone please please please to pray for a miracle for my good friend Jahir, that would be sweet.


Also I appreciate all the prayers for the Peñas, and we're gonna need them to keep coming. We haven't been able to meet with him for a week, and they haven't come to church either. Prayers for the Peñas!


We also had a branch party this saturday, which was awesome. We had 13 of our friends there! For context, wre had about 30 branch members show up, so we brought 25% of the party let's go. I was pretty stressed before that anyone would show up, so that was absolutely an answer to prayer. Pics will be included!


Quick little spiritual thought- prayer. I've gained un testimonio fuerte about prayer. We need to have these things to have effective prayer:
-Specific, planned, set apart time
-muscular effort (it should be tiring)
-focused, spirit Led Specific questions
- sincere gratitude
After using this strategy, ive seen milagros. It's awesome.

One of the most beautiful analogies I've ever heard in my life is this: Canada is like if aliens studied America for 30 years, and then tried recreating it. Week 29: FREEZING

One of the more crazy weeks of the Mission Quick meteorology lesson: way way up north, there is something called the polar votex (basically a big ol cold air mass) When it is being nice it stays in a nice neat circle and keeps all the cold air together. But sometimes it gets weird and wonky, and the air leaks down to where normal people live....... I woke up on Thursday morning and I crack open the balcony to feel the temperature. No joke I could not breathe. I go and check my phone: -29°C. Cold. Very very cold. Over the next couple of days, the whole province of Alberta slowly shut down. On Saturday, we reached a high of -36 and a low of -42. There was talk that we would have to stay inside, but thankfully we didn't have too. Did that stop us? No. We still workin, found 8 new friends to teach, and put Jahir and the Martinez family back on date. The Lord loves effort! Honestly kinda crazy. Week 4: One Month Down

Hola everyone. It has now been officially a month and a day since I've been set apart as a missionary. It has also probably been the quickest month of my life. Time has absolutely flown by, and I'm completely ok with that. Every day is filled with gospel and language study, bonding with my district, and the occasional fun random activity. Like last P-day when we went to the Provo temple, which was absolutely incredible. I love the temple, and I was grateful for the opportunity to get outside the MTC boundaries and get out into the real world.  Me and my two comps actually got the opportunity to talk to a guy outside of the temple who was writing a talk about the Holy Ghost. We were able to give him some advice and direct him to some conference talks and also 3rd Nephi 18. It was awesome to be able to see what missionary work is going to be like.
