Week 22: TALK WITH EVERYONE

Honestly one of the more chaotic weeks of my mission. actually probably of my life.

This week... Just wow. Apparently latinos do live in this city! And what do you know, a lot of them want to learn more about the restored gospel. We found a ton of new friends! Let's recap:


Our friend Pedro was surfing Facebook one day and he saw an ad about the church. He signed up, and we were at his house that night. Then sunday he went to church and loved it! We also had an impromptu lesson at our ward potluck with one of my favorite members: hermano Aceituno. He is such a spiritual giant. We talked about receiving an answer to whether the Book of Mormon is true, and about how the answer will come. Stay tuned! 


Our friend Jahir came to church! We had to ride on a bus with him for an hour, and had an awesome mega lesson the whole way there! Those peruvians are elect. He also had a great time at the potluck, and made friends with a bunch of members. We just talked about the Book of Mormon for the whole time. My kind of branch activity.


And then we had a wild card of a family show up to church: Patricia, Nino, and Marco! I'd never met them before, but they are such a cool family! They were on date for baptism last year, but something happened (I'm not sure, Elder Garibaldi was here). But we're gonna work towards baptism with them, we have a lesson this friday.


And we had a lit miracle on Sunday night, we got in contact with an old friend named Leonardo! We taught him the restoration and he was eating it up! We're gonna Introduce him to Lago Lindo this sunday and it'll be game over from there. This branch is so awesome!


The work here is lit, but the weather is wack. The sun is rising at like 830 and setting at like 4, so minimal sunshine. I'm trying to soak up all the sun that I can! Thank goodness the weather is so nice, we've been blessed to have no snow and highs in the 40s. 


Something I've been trying to focus on in my mission is talking to everyone. As a Spanish missionary, it's super easy to get in the mindset of "Oh they aren't Spanish, I don't need to open my mouth and share the gospel with that person" But I've realized that the Lord really wants everyone to talk with everyone! And it's been crazy to see the blessings that happen when you just try to share the gospel. We've gotten more Spanish referrals this week than at any time in my mission. The Lord loves effort!

One of the most beautiful analogies I've ever heard in my life is this: Canada is like if aliens studied America for 30 years, and then tried recreating it. Everything is roughly the same, except for some very important differences. Primarily Food. Once again, mostly the same, except for one crucial Food genre: chips. Week 29: FREEZING

One of the more crazy weeks of the Mission Quick meteorology lesson: way way up north, there is something called the polar votex (basically a big ol cold air mass) When it is being nice it stays in a nice neat circle and keeps all the cold air together. But sometimes it gets weird and wonky, and the air leaks down to where normal people live....... I woke up on Thursday morning and I crack open the balcony to feel the temperature. No joke I could not breathe. I go and check my phone: -29°C. Cold. Very very cold. Over the next couple of days, the whole province of Alberta slowly shut down. On Saturday, we reached a high of -36 and a low of -42. There was talk that we would have to stay inside, but thankfully we didn't have too. Did that stop us? No. We still workin, found 8 new friends to teach, and put Jahir and the Martinez family back on date. The Lord loves effort! Honestly kinda crazy. Week 4: One Month Down

Hola everyone. It has now been officially a month and a day since I've been set apart as a missionary. It has also probably been the quickest month of my life. Time has absolutely flown by, and I'm completely ok with that. Every day is filled with gospel and language study, bonding with my district, and the occasional fun random activity. Like last P-day when we went to the Provo temple, which was absolutely incredible. I love the temple, and I was grateful for the opportunity to get outside the MTC boundaries and get out into the real world.  Me and my two comps actually got the opportunity to talk to a guy outside of the temple who was writing a talk about the Holy Ghost. We were able to give him some advice and direct him to some conference talks and also 3rd Nephi 18. It was awesome to be able to see what missionary work is going to be like. Except we'll be speaking a different language, and it'll be -40 degrees outside. Oh Canada, I can't wait! If...
