Week 24: Craziest Week Ever (Not Clickbait)

Image
5 months Time is absolutely flying. I blinked and now Christmas is in less than a month. Buck wild. Time flies when you're having fun, and I'm having the time of my life, Fighting for Jesus every day is honestly such a blast. The google fotos for the real ones  https://photos.app.goo.gl/ 5KEvxqXq2WYzZR9a9 Update this week: we continue to find like crazy. New people coming to church, let's introduce the new friends: First one's name is Rafael from El Salvador! Bit of background-- this mission is very heavy on facebook work. Me personally? I detest it haha. But the crazy insane thing is it's quite effective, especially for language missionaries. I messaged Rafael on Wednesday night and he responded immediately. He told me God told him he'd be sending a messenger to him soon and right after that I messaged him. I cold called him right after he responded and he basically bore his soul and life story. Too crazy to put in here haha. But we read Ether 12 with him right...

Week 23: LOVE PROBLEMS, LOVE PEOPLE, LOVE LIFE

'Nother week down. Time sure is moving fast, eh? First of all, your prayers for the past 3 months have been answered : ILDEMAR IS ON DATE! I've been waiting for this since the day I met him and Esperanza. Ok so here's the story: We were planning our day on thursday, and we get the most beautiful text message from Ildimar (see Google photos, if you ain't on that, hop on: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ 5KEvxqXq2WYzZR9a9 ) Needless to say, we threw our whole day in the trash and met with Ildimar at west Edmonton mall, like a 20 kilo drive but so worth it. We get in there and the first thing he asks is, "ok, so after I get baptized, how many more covenants do I have to make?" Well I'm so glad you asked! We explain the covenant path, he is ok with it, we explain the qualifications for baptism, he accepts, and we set a date for dec 16! So awesome. The lesson was not with esperanza, she's a little more skeptical, but we are gonna meet this week with them both and...

Week 22: TALK WITH EVERYONE

Image
Honestly one of the more chaotic weeks of my mission. actually probably of my life. Hop on the Google fotos for the Canadian Spanish flics: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ 5KEvxqXq2WYzZR9a9 This week... Just wow. Apparently latinos do live in this city! And what do you know, a lot of them want to learn more about the restored gospel. We found a ton of new friends! Let's recap: Our friend Pedro was surfing Facebook one day and he saw an ad about the church. He signed up, and we were at his house that night. Then sunday he went to church and loved it! We also had an impromptu lesson at our ward potluck with one of my favorite members: hermano Aceituno. He is such a spiritual giant. We talked about receiving an answer to whether the Book of Mormon is true, and about how the answer will come. Stay tuned!  Our friend Jahir came to church! We had to ride on a bus with him for an hour, and had an awesome mega lesson the whole way there! Those peruvians are elect. He also had a great time ...

Week 21: So I Guess This Is Growing up

Sorry elders and sisters, this ones gonna be a very quick email. I'm moving apartments today and it's gonna take a long time so here's the reader's digest version: Transfers- they happened, Elder Garibaldi has left the chat, enter Elder Garofalo! They are like fire and ice, not similar at all (see their Facebook profiles to prove my point). This transfer is gonna be interesting! We're already having success though, we've been together 48 hours and found 4 people already. I'm in charge of this area now. So all the pressure is on me. Don't get me wrong tho, I love it! Responsibility is how we grow, and I'm getting a lot more of it now. Our friend Irvinso is so awesome. He's from Venezuela, immigrated to Chile, then walked from Santiago to Canada. Yes you read that right. He was in one of the immigrant caravans. We taught him the restoration and he loved it. We have a friend from the DR named Joan who we gave a chapel tour. He loved the restoration ...
