Week 19: Palestine, Pupusas, And.... Snow

If those aren't the craziest three words you've ever seen together, then odds are you had a more normal week than me. Wouldn't trade it for the world. Love this mission!

So apparently there's a conflict over in the Middle east... see the city of Edmonton is a city of immigrants. Almost everyone here is from a different place (and probably going back there soon, that's what most people tell us). A high percentage of the immigrants are Muslims as well. And they are..... passionate about the conflict. We've had a couple nights where we're driving and we see groups of 30-40 people on the side of the road waving flags and chanting. Kinda surreal. Praying for everyone over there!

This last week I had the great pleasure of trying an absolutely delicious Salvadorian dish known as pupusas at an inactive (not for long) members house! The Girones are awesome. Man is she passionate about her food. I asked her how she made them, and she proceeded to give me the in depth 25 minute dissertation on the only right way to make pupusas. I'm all for that! I need to work on my cooking skills anyway. But the Girones are awesome, hna girone loves the church but the hno is a little iffy. If you could all keep them in your prayers, that would be amazing!

Annnnnnd finally Canada decided to Bring It. Yesterday we saw a little bit of snow, then we woke up and lo and behold....snow covered the ground. With a temperature of -4. Cold. Just cold. I guess this is life now. I hope the novelty never wears off.

Little miracle this week... we have a new friend who is progressing super fast. His name is Julian and he's from México! We met him on tuesday, had a lesson on Wednesday, he came to play volleyball with the branch on friday, then came to church on sunday. Talked a LOT about baptism. He seems super interested, but it's a race against time, his visa expires in one month. He could use some prayers as well!

Throughout this week, I've gained a newfound appreciation for the members in Lago Lindo. Gosh dang it they are all so awesome! It's not easy for any of them to be in this small branch up here in the great white North, but they pull together for everyone that we Bring to church. It's like a literal family. I've learned for the first time what the term "ward family" means. It gives me even more reason to get out of bed every morning and go hunt for more people to Bring to the best branch in the world! It's Christ-like love at it's finest. So awesome that all you want to do is share it.

Well I love you all! Just in case you're wondering I'm having the time of my life. Pray for the spanish people in Edmonton so they won't leave now that the snow is here! Shoot me an email si necisita algo!
Te amo todos!

Adiós,
Élder Curtis
