Week 18: Peace Out Elder Seely, Driving, Y Los Argentinos

What's crack a lackin my fine elders, brothers, and sisters! I miss you all, but the Lord's mission is so awesome up here in the frozen tundra.

The big news of the week is Elder Seely is leavin' to Costa Rica. He sets out on Thursday. Gonna miss him. Learned a lot about missionary work. Gonna kill it down there Elder!

We had a lot of outlying appointments this week, which means a lot of driving. And I don't know if I put this in here already, but I am the designated driver in Lago Lindo. Which is kind of unheard of, they usually wait till at least a year before they let us drive but here we go! We had a bunch of Road trips out in the prairies of Alberta, which was so rad. I love driving!

On this week's edition of south american bingo, we visited an inactive member from argentina! They are super rare here. He's from the south of argentina and, who is, in his own words, "becoming catholic." Well I know you think that hermano leber, but not if we have anything to say about it! We helped him build a big ol fence and we're going back later in the week.

It's been a pretty average week here in Canada. Missionary life is like a time machine. Somehow, I've almost been here for 4 months! Absolutely insane. But real talk, this is the happiest I've been in a long time. It's so fascinating to see as you decrease the time that you spend thinking, caring, and worrying about yourself, your joy increases. Seems counterintuitive, right? But it's so so so true. Learning how to love others who are so completely different than you augments your soul in a way that is truly indescribable. Here's an example: I had an exchange with Elder Vital and Garibaldi, and we went to teach the Peñas. We also had Hno Salas to help with the lesson. As we were teaching, I looked around and just took a mental picture. A white kid from gilbert az, teaching a lesson to some Columbians with a Brazilian and two mexicans, in Edmonton Canada. In Spanish. It blows my mind every day. This is a global church. It changes people. It transforms them into something better. I know, I know I say this a lot, but please please please serve a mission. If it's even a question in your mind, just do it. It will change you.

Alright, that's all for this week! I love you all! Don't be afraid to reach out!

Adiós,
Elder Curtis

Ps. The long awaited, most highly anticipated drop this year.... my Google photos hop on it
