Week 14: One Of The Happiest Days Of My Life

If you couldn't tell from the title of the email, DIANA GOT BAPTIZED WHOOOOOOOOO! It was actually so awesome. I don't know if I ever shared how we met her, so here goes.
Flashback to 4-5 weeks ago, me and Elder Girabaldi were walking the dangerous calles de Edmonton, when he hopped on preach my gospel (basically the missionary app) and he said "hey we're close to someone who's met the missionaries before, let's go say howdy" or something of that nature. So we knock on Diana's house and she lets us in. Turns out she's super interested in the message. Like so much so we're talking about baptism in 10 minutes, and we set a date for septiembre 16. I got to teach her every lesson for the first time for me and her in Spanish. 


The actual baptism was awesome, because the branch is so small, it's literally a family so we had half the branch there. Fun fact: yours truly was able to perform the ordinance. Which was terrifying and lit all at the same time. But that sentence basically describes a mission, so I wager I'll get used to that feeling.


In other news, our friends the Peñas are consistent church-goers! They've been these past four weeks and have so many questions about the gospel. We're planning on putting them on date this week, so keep them in your thoughts and prayers!


We went over to Marios (again) on Sunday and we talked about the requirements to get the Melchizedek priesthood. He wants to go to the temple, so we're helping him get there. Also, he showed us his "vintage" CD collection. Mario is a big Taylor Swift fan, and his favorite album is speak now lol (picture at the end)


All in all a great week! Weather is cooling, the low this week is 38 :( pray for me. But fall has fallen so this city has some color now! I've never seen it happen before (ya know, being from AZ) and it's sooo cool.

One of the most beautiful analogies I've ever heard in my life is this: Canada is like if aliens studied America for 30 years, and then tried recreating it. Week 29: FREEZING

One of the more crazy weeks of the Mission Quick meteorology lesson: way way up north, there is something called the polar votex (basically a big ol cold air mass) When it is being nice it stays in a nice neat circle and keeps all the cold air together. But sometimes it gets weird and wonky, and the air leaks down to where normal people live....... I woke up on Thursday morning and I crack open the balcony to feel the temperature. No joke I could not breathe. I go and check my phone: -29°C. Cold. Very very cold. Over the next couple of days, the whole province of Alberta slowly shut down. On Saturday, we reached a high of -36 and a low of -42. There was talk that we would have to stay inside, but thankfully we didn't have too. Did that stop us? No. We still workin, found 8 new friends to teach, and put Jahir and the Martinez family back on date. The Lord loves effort! Honestly kinda crazy. Week 4: One Month Down

Hola everyone. It has now been officially a month and a day since I've been set apart as a missionary. It has also probably been the quickest month of my life. Time has absolutely flown by, and I'm completely ok with that. Every day is filled with gospel and language study, bonding with my district, and the occasional fun random activity. Like last P-day when we went to the Provo temple, which was absolutely incredible. I love the temple, and I was grateful for the opportunity to get outside the MTC boundaries and get out into the real world.  Me and my two comps actually got the opportunity to talk to a guy outside of the temple who was writing a talk about the Holy Ghost. We were able to give him some advice and direct him to some conference talks and also 3rd Nephi 18. It was awesome to be able to see what missionary work is going to be like.
