Week 10: First Full Week In E-town!!!!
So one funny thing about Edmonton: there are no mountains anywhere. Like this place is just one big plain. The only defining landmark in this whole place is the city skyline. And even that is pretty small. Needless to say, this is very different from Arizona. Don't even get me started on the weather. It is absolutely gorgeous here, but just a bit cold. Yesterday it was 45 degrees outside. In August. I have no words.
The work in Edmonton is interesting. I'm called to speak Spanish, but it's super hard to find latinos here. So when we're out in public, we're usually talking to English speakers. I don't say white people because I'm convinced they don't exist up here hahaha. I think I've seen about 5 over this past week. This has gotta be one of the most diverse cities I've ever been to. I've talked to people from Siri Lanka, Nigeria, Taiwan, Venezuela, Mexico, and a couple of others I don't remember. The latinos do exist somewhere; so it's mine and Elder Girabaldi's job to track them down.
Also another fun fact: I gave a talk in church yesterday. In Spanish. 10 minutes long. With 20 hours notice. Let me be the first one to tell all of you: the gift of tongues is real, and the power of the spirit is very real and present in our lives. I didn't get any congratulations or good jobs from anyone in the branch (that I understood at least) but I was flipping proud of myself.
Speaking of the branch, Lago Lindo is a great place to be. At the same time it is a very small place to be. We have about 20 regular attendees, so there's some room for improvement. That's why the Lord sent Elder Curtis here!
Other than that, we have one friend that we put on date this week! Her name is Diana and she was a miracle. She was a social media referral and we planned on teaching the restoration, but we learn she was on date in Mexico where she used to live, but then she moved here. So she's getting baptized September 16 (if she can quit coffee in that time.) She came to church this Sunday too! Everyone please pray for her, she needs a lot of help.
Well that's all for now. Please pray for me so I can learn this language haha!
